Full-Time Police Officers

Starting Salary for Probationary Officer $49,761.00
Current Police Officer Salary Range, (active contract negotiations) $49,761.00 - $140,398.00(8 Steps)
Eligibility Criteria/ Requirements:
- Applicants must be NJ PTC certified Full time sworn officer with a minimum of 2 years of service or a graduate of an Alternate Route program from a NJ PTC certified Police Academy or currently attending an Alternate Route program from a NJ PTC certified Police Academy.
- Must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of the State of New Jersey.
- Must be between the ages of 21 and 35 years of age.
- Must be a high school graduate or have passed a recognized General Education Development Test.
- College education is preferred.
Must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
- Must be of good moral character. No person shall be appointed who has been convicted of an indictable offense or who has been convicted of any crime or offense involving moral turpitude.
- Must have the ability to read, write, and speak the English language articulately and intelligently.
- Must possess the ability to perform all the tasks and duties of a Police Officer.
- Must pass an extensive background investigation.
- Must pass a medical and psychological examinations, as well as, a drug screening test.
The hiring process will consist of:
- Resume submission
- Selected candidates will be interviewed by the governing committee
- Selected candidates will complete a comprehensive personal history statement/ application
- Background investigation will be conducted
- Psychological and medical testing, including drug screening.
