Ridgefield Park - Police Officer

RIDGEFIELD PARK POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Ridgefield Park will be accepting applications for the position of probationary Police Officer.  

The Ridgefield Park Police Department will be holding an entrance exam for the position of Police Officer on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 6:00 PM.  Prospective candidates must meet the following requirement to be considered for appointment as a sworn officer with the department:

Be a citizen of the United States
Be sound in body and good health sufficient to satisfy the board of trustees of the Police and Firemen’s Retirement System of New Jersey as to his/her eligibility for membership in the retirement system
Be able to read, write, speak the English language: and
Be of good moral character, and have not been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude.
As per 40A:14-127, candidates shall be between 18-35 years of age at the time of appointment.  Candidates with prior police service are permitted to deduct their years of prior service from their current age to meet the maximum age requirement.
As per 40A: 14-122.8 candidates shall reside in NJ at the time of their appointment, and thereafter.
Candidates shall be able to complete a basic police training course at a school approved and authorized by the NJ PTC.
Possess a valid NJ Driver’s License at the time of appointment and thereafter.
Not be permitted from purchasing, owning, possessing, or controlling a firearm as per 2C:39-7 or prohibited from obtaining a firearms ID card or Permit to Purchase a handgun as per 2C:58-3 and
Possess a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in any field, or be a declared criminal justice major with 60 or more credits toward a bachelor’s degree or associates degree, or four years of active military service with an honorable discharge or comparable law enforcement experience.  Education must have been obtained at a recognized college of university.
Qualified applicants can complete the application via Policeapp.com beginning on  Friday, June 6, 2025 . The online submission will include a $65.00 testing fee to be submitted via the Policeapp.com website no later than Monday, September 8, 2025  at 11:00 AM.  The examination will be held on Thursday, September 18,  2025 at 6:00 PM, Ridgefield Park JR. SR High School, 1 Ozzie Nelson Dr., Ridgefield Park, NJ.

The Ridgefield Park Police Department will utilize the same exercises and standards as the NJPTC physical training standards for trainees.
