The Borough of Allenhurst is currently accepting resumes and applications for the position of Special Law Enforcement Officer Class I (SLEO) for the 2024 summer season!
Allenhurst is located just north of Asbury Park; we have a busy business district and our own beach club. It is a great place to start your law enforcement career!

This is an UNARMED, non-sworn position
CURRENT SLEOIs WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THE JANUARY 2025 SLEOII ACADEMY

Applicants will complete an interview process, and undergo a comprehensive background check. If you are hired, you will attend an 80-hour class at the Monmouth County Police Academy. The academy starts in mid-May 2024. If you already have a CURRENT SLEOI certification (not past the 3 year expiration limit), you will not have to attend the academy.
Duties include patrolling our beach front and business district on foot or bicycle, issuing summonses for parking and certain motor vehicle offenses, handling minor complaints and issues at our municipally owned beach club, and other duties as assigned.
Many of our prior SLEOIs have been hired as SLEOIIs, and full-time officers here and elsewhere.
