WILDWOOD CREST POLICE DEPARTMENT

IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR

CLASS II SPECIAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS

The Wildwood Crest Police Department, as part of and empowered by the community, is committed to a safe and peaceful environment.  We shall provide the general public with professional, knowledgeable, and thorough law enforcement service; as well as, render aid to those in need.  We will strive to protect the lives, property and rights of every citizen and visitor, and we will conduct ourselves with honor and integrity.  Through conscientious patrol, diligent investigation, and appropriate management, the Wildwood Crest Police Department will continue to serve the community to the very best of our abilities.

THE POLICE ACADEMY (WINTER)

The Special Officer Class II consists of training mandated by the New Jersey Police Training Commission.  This course covers similar material as the basic class.  The winter class begins in December and goes through April.  These classes are held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 3:00pm to 10:00pm and all day Saturday.  Upon graduation, students will be PTC certified as a Class Two Special Law Enforcement Officer.

THE POLICE ACADEMY (SUMMER)

The Special Officer Class II consists of over 460 hours of training mandated by the Police Training Commission. This course covers similar material as the basic class.  The accelerated summer training begins in May and ends in June.  The course runs eleven weeks, Monday through Saturday from 6:30am to 5:30pm.  Upon graduation, students will be PTC certified as a Class Two Special Law Enforcement Officer.

Hiring Process

Salary is $13.00 an hour.  Minimum wage while attending the Cape May County Police Academy.
