Full Time or Part Time Special Law Enforcement Officer Class I or II (SLEOI or II)
Position: F/T or P/T Special Law Enforcement Officer Class I or II (SLEOI or II)
The Washington Township Police Department, Bergen County is accepting applications for the position of full-time or part-time SLEOI or II (20-25 hrs/week).
The successful candidate is highly motivated, well organized, self-directed professional who embraces new challenges and collaborates well with team members, accepts responsibility and sees assignments to completion; exhibits excellent oral and written communication skills. The candidate will be privy to highly confidential matters and transactions and must display the utmost discretion and professionalism.
Minimum Requirements:
- Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, be at least 21 years old
- Possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license
- Have a High School Diploma or state certified G.E.D.
- Read and write the English language proficiently
- Have no criminal record, be of sound moral character
- Able to pass a medical examination, psychological examination and drug screening
Preference will be given to candidates that contain any of the following criteria:
- Applicants that possess a PTC certification for SLEOI or II.
- Dispatch experience
- Residency in the Township of Washington
- Bilingual or Spanish speaking
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Court security
- Parking Enforcement
- Park Checks
- School Checks, School Traffic and School Tour Checks (School in session)
- Processing and the guarding of prisoners
- Traffic enforcement details
- Any other duties assigned by a supervisor
