SLEO CLASS III 

The Washington Township Police Department Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Class III Special Police Officer. The applicant must be a retired law enforcement officer, less than 65 years of age who previously served as a duly qualified, fully trained, full time officer in any municipality or county of this state or as a member of the State Police and was separated from prior service in good standing within 3 years of appointment to this position. The Class III legislation also requires the Officer be a resident of the State of New Jersey.  This position is for the Washington Township School District (K-8).

Starting Salary shall be $36.00 per hour and he/she shall work a schedule of 29 hours weekly, Monday-Friday. The required hours will vary but will be between 7:00am and 4:00 pm and will not exceed 29 hours a week based on school needs. The Special Police Officer shall only work when school is in session and when required departmental training is being conducted. It is anticipated that hiring will be completed prior to January 2, 2025. The Special Police Officer shall conduct School Safety and Security duties within the 4 schools in the Washington Township School District.
