SPECIAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
OFFICER (SLEO) Level III
If hired by the Borough, Class III officers will operate under the direction of the Carteret Police Department and be assigned to the schools to conduct school safety and security duties. They will have the same police authority as regular full time police officers. Scheduling will be consistent with school operating hours.
Job Requirements:
- Must be a citizen of the United States
- Must be a resident of New Jersey and poses a valid NJ Driver’s license
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently and have achieved a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have successfully completed all training required by statute at a New Jersey State certified Police Academy
- Completed all training required by statute at a New Jersey certified police academy
- Must be in sound physical condition and capable of performing the physical functions of the duties assigned.
- Be of good moral character
- Must be under the age of 65
- Must have been retired as a full time police officer for less than 4 years
- Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, psychological testing, drug screening through urinalysis and an oral review board.
