EPHRATA POLICE DEPARTMENT
NOW HIRING PROCESS FOR
FULL TIME POLICE OFFICERS
Certified police officers and non-certified applicants are encouraged to apply.
Written test is at 6:30PM at Ephrata Middle School on April 18, 2023.
Physical Fitness Assessment is at 8:00AM at Reading Police Academy on April 19, 2023.
The Ephrata Police Department serves the four municipalities of Ephrata Borough, Ephrata Township, West Cocalico Township, and Adamstown Borough and covers a total jurisdiction of approximately 49 square miles and serves approximately 33,700 residents in Northern Lancaster County.

SALARY AND BENEFIT HIGHLIGHTS
- Salary while in the academy if uncertified: $59,848.
- Start certified no experience: $68,914.
- Start with 2 years of full time experience as certified police officer: $80,713.
- Top patrol officer pay in 2023: $96,834. 2027: $112,344

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

- Must be 21 years of age by date of employment as a police officer as required by current Pennsylvania MPOTEC regulations.
- Must possess a diploma as proof of graduation from an accredited high school or have a graduate equivalent diploma.
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer. (To be determined by a medical examination/drug screen, psychological evaluation & physical agility test)
- Must successfully pass a written examination.
- Must successfully pass an oral interview process.
- Must successfully pass a polygraph examination.
- Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation.
- Must meet the minimum qualifications for police officer certification established by the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officer Training and Education Commission.
- Must reside within a twenty five (25) mile radius of the Ephrata Borough line within three (3) months of completing their probationary period.
- Must provide truthful and non-misleading information on identity papers and must have documented proof of work eligibility.
- Must provide truthful and non-misleading information on every part of the employment application.
