Readington Township Police Department, NJ Police Jobs

SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER

The Readington Township Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Class II or Class III Police Officer.


Class II Special Officer Minimum Requirements:
• Applicant must possess a NJPTC certification for SLEO II.
• Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, be at least 21 years old.
• Applicant must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
• Applicant must be of sound moral character and may not have a criminal record.
• Applicant must be able to pass a medical examination, psychological examination, and drug screening.
• Applicant must be physically capable of performing the functions of the position.


Class III Special Officer Minimum Requirements:
• Applicant must be a retired police officer less than 65 years of age and served as a duly qualified, fully trained, full-time New Jersey municipal or county police officer or was regularly employed as a full-time member of the New Jersey State police.
• Applicant must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
• Applicant must be of sound moral character and may not have a criminal record.
• Applicant must be able to pass a medical examination, psychological examination, and drug screening.
• Applicant must be physically capable of performing the functions of the position.
• Certified Safe Schools Resource Officer preferred.

The officer’s primary responsibility would be patrolling the Readington Township Schools daily. A Class II Officer would have additional opportunities such as:

• Traffic enforcement details
• Road jobs
• Court/meeting security
• Other associated duties
