DPSO HELICOPTER PILOT JOB OPENING
Minimum Requirements
- Must be 21
· Possess a valid Louisiana Driver's License
· Be a United States Citizen
· Must have earned a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
· No felony convictions or crimes of violence
· Commercial helicopter pilot’s license
Experience
· Applicants with prior knowledge and experience with the Robinson R-44 and/or Bell 206 are preferred.
Job Description/General Duties
· Perform helicopter pilot duties as a law enforcement officer in support of operational mission requirements which includes reconnaissance, surveillance, traffic control, search and rescue, and passenger transport.
· Develop flight plans in accordance with flight manual; operational requirements; and federal, state, and county procedures and regulations.
· Perform preflight and post flight inspections to determine the aircraft's airworthiness including the visual inspection of flight controls, engine, propellers, night vision, and rotor systems.
· Secure aircraft after mission completion; record flight time, damages, and malfunctions in flight logs and maintenance records; prepare reports; and coordinate required maintenance with ground support personnel.
· Maintain aircrew proficiency and certification in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations.
· Perform law enforcement deputy duties.
· Perform other related duties as required.
