PART-TIME TRAFFIC OFFICER
The Part-Time Traffic Officer is a sworn Police Officer who is responsible for the protection of life and property, preservation of peace and order, arrest of offenders, suppression of crime and with heavy emphasis of regulation of traffic.
Example of duties:
TRAFFIC CONTROL
- Assignment into a marked police vehicle while enforcing traffic laws.
- Enforcement of laws relating to the operation and use of motor vehicles on the roadways.
- Enforce traffic laws by stopping motorists and issuing citations or warnings as appropriate; maintain acceptable levels of enforcement and relates traffic enforcement activities to the location, time and causes of accidents.
- Enforces all laws relating to licensing and registration of motor vehicles.
- Arrests intoxicated and drug influenced drivers.
- Enforcement of all state and local laws relative to motor vehicle operation and pedestrian safety.
- Selective traffic safety enforcement as assigned.
- In addition to the above examples of duties, the Part-Time Traffic Officer will complete any assignment given by a superior officer that is deemed necessary for the delivery of services of traffic enforcement.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required
- OPOTA certification required
- Must be 21 years of age or older and be eligible for license to carry a firearm
- A valid driver's license
- Citizen of the United States
PAY
This is a part time position and will have flexible scheduling of no more than 29 hours per week.
Rate of pay will be up to $25 an hour.
Part-Time employees are entitled to paid time off.
