AUXILIARY POLICE OFFICER

*Position is an unpaid; must volunteer 16 hours a month

ABOUT THE EAST CLEVELAND POLICE DEPARTMENT

This proud department consists of approximately Forty-Five Sworn personnel, and encompasses, Operations Bureau, Detective Division, Patrol Division, auxiliary unit, K-9 units and SRT team. They are responsible to the citizens of East Cleveland, which is located in Cuyahoga County and encompasses an area of 3.5 square miles populated by 15,000 people.

The men and women of the East Cleveland Police Department are thoroughly committed to the improvement of the quality of life for all the residents of East Cleveland by working in partnership with them.  The Department will constantly work to maintain a safe and secure community while treating all people with dignity and respect.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a G.E.D.
• No felony, domestic violence, or certain misdemeanor offenses.
• at least 21 years of age
• Be a citizen of the United States of America.
• Possess a valid Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Obtained or will obtain OPOTA certification within 3 months of application.

HIRING PROCESS

The selection process will include, at minimum, a detailed review of your application packet, and the successful completion of the Department’s selection process which includes but may not be limited to the following:

• Oral Examination
• CVSA Examination
• Psychological Exam
• Detailed Background Investigation
• Medical Exam to include drug testing
• Chief’s/Command staff Interview (s)
