ATLANTIC, IOWA POLICE DEPARTMENT
PART TIME PATROLMAN
The Atlantic Police Department is currently taking applications for the position of part time Patrolman.
Certification through the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy is required for this position. Part time officers will not have set hours or shifts, and will be utilized on as as needed basis. Primarily, shifts are in 12 hours increments. They may be shorter, depending on the department need and employee availability.
Residency restrictions to be considered and approved at the discretion of the Chief.

Salary:
The wage for this position is $45/hr.
Hiring Process:
- Applications will be accepted until position is filled
- Applicants will be contacted to schedule an in person interview
- MMPI testing date TBD for selected candidates and is required by the ILEA
- Before being hired, a candidate is required to pass a drug test and have a physical evaluation
Testing Requirements:
Iowa certified applicants will not be required to complete the physical testing and will be contacted to set up a formal interview.
About the Atlantic Police Department/City of Atlantic:
- Our department operates with 12 full time officers and 2 secretarial staff members
- We work a 12 hour schedule consisting of every other weekend off for most officers
- Load bearing vest are approved and facial hair is permitted
- Atlantic has a population of approximately 7,000
- The Atlantic community, community leaders, & city administration are very supportive of our agency
- Atlantic is located an hour west of Des Moines and an hour east of Omaha

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a United States citizen
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- ILEA certification is required
- College education is preferred but not required
- Military service will be highly considered
- Must not have any felony convictions or convictions of other crimes involving moral turpitude
