POLICE CHIEF
The City of Torrington seeks a talented and experienced Chief of Police to lead the Torrington Police Department. This position will oversee department activities and operations and will develop and implement policy, procedures, and Public Safety programs that support the long-term goals of the Mayor, Board of Public Safety, and the citizens of Torrington. The ideal candidate is a proven leader, with outstanding interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff, elected officials, and community members with experience in field operations, administration, and budgeting.
Desired minimum qualifications are a B.A. or B.S. in police science or related field plus twelve (12) years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience with five (5) consecutive years at the rank of Lieutenant or higher. A combination of training, education and experience demonstrating the ability to perform all aspects of the position may be considered in lieu of the stated requirements.
