Millis Police Department’s Entrance Exam

Thank you for your interest in the Millis Police Department’s upcoming law enforcement entry exam. The exam will be facilitated through Police Exam Solutions (PES), through the @Home Testing process. To help you better understand the process, and the requirements and procedures necessary to participate, below is an outline of the agencies and their involvement in the upcoming exam.

PoliceApp.com:

policeapp.com provides the exam registration site, where you will enroll and pay your registration fee. Additionally, the site will provide all pertinent, detailed information regarding the upcoming exam. Policeapp.com provides a dashboard style user interface between candidates and the hiring agency. Once the exam process has occurred and scores are posted, all communication about the recruitment process will be handled by the hiring agency through this portal.

Police Exam Solutions, LLC:

PES is the agency working with the Millis Police Department to sponsor and facilitate your @Home Testing process. Through this format, your exam will be conducted through a virtual, online proctored test. Exact dates and exam sessions will be booked during the week November 16-20, 2020, once the total number of participating candidates is determined. Candidates will be sent an email from the PES proctoring firm, IO Solutions, providing detailed hardware requirements and instructions necessary for exam day, as well as an invitation to schedule your test session. Candidates should expect to receive this email no later than Nov. 11th, 2020.

  • You will be required to have 2 devices on the day of the test
    1. Mobile smartphone or tablet. The GoToMeeting app will be used as the video/audio app for the IOS Test Proctor to monitor and communicate with you during the exam.
    2. Desktop or Laptop PC running Windows 7 or later. The IOS Testing Application will be downloaded to this device in order for you to take the exam.  Macs are NOT compatible with the IOS Testing Application. If you do not have a PC, we advise you to borrow or rent one for the duration of the test.
  • You will be required to download GoToMeeting Application on a mobile device.
  • You will be required to download the IOS Testing Application on a Desktop or Laptop PC.

There are two components to the PES written exam process, as outlined below:

1.  YOUR PES/PPI ONLINE PORTAL: The first part of the written examination is the Candidate Insight Report (CIR), and the Projected Personality Interpreter (PPI). The CIR will require you to complete a series of questions regarding your demographics, and your skills and qualifications for the job. The PPI consists of 10 essay questions. Utilizing IBM Watson AI technology, the PPI is used to identify the top key personality traits possessed by candidates. The PPI report is not scored and/or ranked. It is designed to provide the department with personality insight for each candidate. A candidate will not be hired or eliminated from consideration for hire, based on this feedback.

BE ON THE LOOKOUT! Upon your successful registration acceptance, the PPI portal will automatically email you a set of access instructions.  DEADLINE TO COMPLETE THE PPI:  9 AM Wednesday, November 11

Since this email will sometimes get intercepted by ISP firewalls, we advise you search all folders within your email box. The ‘from’ address is admin.ppi-portal.com. Your first-time access must be made through the link contained in the email. Should you have any issues, you must contact PES for assistance. To provide you with the best service, it’s suggested you do not wait until the last minute.

2.  THE WRITTEN EXAM WITH THE @HOME TESTING FORMAT: The second part of the exam process is the written exam, which will be facilitated through the @Home Testing format. You will be participating in a written exam specifically tailored for law enforcement. Your exam was developed to measure the key skills, abilities and other characteristics required for job success. You will be allotted a set amount of time to complete the exam. You should expect the process to take approximately 3.5 hours. Once the process begins and test administration is complete, you will have 2.5 hours to complete your exam.

PES will email candidates when results are in. Typically, scores are released within 5-7 business days from the date of the last testing session. This email will contain a step-by-step set of instructions on how to access your individual score.

In addition to the hardware requirements necessary for your participation, all candidates are required to provide their valid photo ID upon exam check-in on the day of your exam.

The Police Department: The Millis Police Department for which you are applying has contracted with PES to provide the best recruitment tools available for recruiting qualified candidates. The Millis PD written entry exam for law enforcement is scheduled through the @Home Testing process, during the week of November 16-20, 2020.
