Job Announcement

POSITION:                          Probationary Dispatcher
                                            3rd Shift (10pm-6am)—4 days on, 2 days off
 
AFFILIATION:                     Police Communications
 
SALARY & GRADE:          Starting hourly rate not to exceed $23.7738

PRIMARY DUTIES

Maintains continuous two-way radio and/or telephone communication between Dispatch Center and officers/department personnel to assign requests for response for service with appropriate response code; maintains standardized operations of the computer-aided dispatch system (CAD) & the state’s SPOTs system; adheres to FCC, NCIC & department rules and regulations; data entry in CAD system; monitors street activity via the radio; performs criminal record, license, motor vehicle registration record through SPOTS and NCIC checks; enters stolen property, missing and wanted persons into NCIC; monitors City’s traffic channel; other duties as assigned.    

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 6 months relevant work experience and high school diploma or certified equivalent is required. A combination of education and experience will be considered.  Must possess good listening and excellent oral communications skills, data entry skills, and have the ability to react appropriately per department policies and regulations in emergency situations. Ability to successfully complete oral and written exams is essential.
