Full-Time Communications Officer
The Town of Hanover is accepting applications for a full time Communications Officer. Starting hourly rate is $20.53, depending on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for receiving calls for assistance from the public, dispatching appropriate public safety personnel, and maintaining records for police, fire and emergency medical services agencies. Candidates must have strong communication skills, calm demeanor, and the ability to respond effectively, efficiently, and quickly in stressful emergency situations.
Job Duties:
Job duties include monitoring and dispatching radio communications traffic for emergency and non-emergency situations; monitoring the status of emergency personnel; providing pre-arrival instructions to callers; maintaining log of telephone and radio calls; preparing monthly activity reports; monitoring and routing incoming messages from national and state computer networks; monitoring and assisting with motor vehicle stops; entering (or removing) data in National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and the State Police Online Telecommunications System (SPOTS) networks; monitoring digitized alarm system for area businesses and residents; and assisting police personnel in gathering information for incident, accident, arrest/booking, and other reports. Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
This position requires knowledge of or ability to learn police, fire & EMT operations, ICS protocol, radio equipment, pagers, telephones, computers and emergency telecommunication systems. Applicants must possess or be able to readily obtain SPOTS/NCIC certification
