CAMBRIDGE POLICE DEPARTMENT
IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR
POLICE COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Applicants can be rejected from the hiring process for the following reasons:
-Felony arrests or a pattern of misdemeanor arrests
-Convicted of any criminal offense to include driving under the influence or intoxicated
-Abuse of Drugs
-Negative Employment Patterns
-Adverse information on background
-Pending Legal Action (Civil or Criminal)
-Falsifying information on an application or any other official document
General Duties
-Answer the telephone / 911 calls
-Dispatch Police Officers to calls for service
-Document calls on Police Dispatch / RMS System
-Enter warrants and summons from court
-Run computer checks (Wanted, License, Tag checks)
Salary
Starting Salary is $25,550.00

-Population for the City of Cambridge is 12,620
-Serving an area of 12.64 square miles
-Currently have an opening for 1 Dispatcher
-Police Department calls for service average is 40,000 per year
-Cambridge Police Department is comprised of 48 Sworn officers and 12 Civilian employees
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-Must be a United States Citizen
-Must be 18 years of age
-Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent recognized by the Maryland State board of Education
-Must have 20/20 vision (can be corrected)
-Must possess a valid Maryland Drivers License
-Must be able to operate a windows based computer system
-Must be able to pass a through background investigation
HIRING PROCESS
-Initial Application
-Successful Completion of the Departments CID Interview
-Successful completion of a background investigation
-Successful completion of a Practial Typing and Computer Operations Test
-Successful completion of a Polygraph Examination
-Successful completion of Applicant Oral interview board
-Successful completion of the Chief's Interview
