BOROUGH OF WHARTON POLICE DEPARTMENT
IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR
CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICERS
(Must have current NJ PTC certification, SLEO Class II waiver eligible or enrolled in a PTC Alternate Route course graduating before December 15, 2021)

- Salary: $60,270
ABOUT THE BOROUGH OF WHARTON POLICE DEPARTMENT
- Located in Morris County & serves the communities of Wharton Borough & Mine Hill Township.
- The Borough of Wharton Police Department employs a total of 21 officers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- The applicant must be a resident of New Jersey and a citizen of the United States.
- The applicant must be at least 21 years of age.
- The applicant must have graduated from high school or possess a General Equivalency Degree (GED).
- The applicant must possess the ability to perform all the tasks and duties of a Police Officer.
- The applicant must possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
- The applicant must be of good moral character.
- The applicant must not have a criminal record.
- The applicant must possess a current New Jersey Police Training Certificate issued by the New Jersey Police Training Commission for a Police Officer, Class II Special Officer (waiver eligible) or be enrolled in a PTC Alternate Route program which graduates no later than December 15, 2021.
HIRING PROCESS
Applicants must pass all phases of the hiring process:
- Resume review
- Two oral exams: 1.) Supervisor panel interview and 2.) Command interview
- Medical Exam
- Psychological testing
- Background investigation
- Drug Screening
