COPS Officer (Community Oriented Policing Services)


The Town of Benson Police Department has an immediate opening for the position of COPS Officer (Community Oriented Policing Services).

You will perform general law enforcement duties, on foot and by vehicle, to protect life and property, enforce laws and ordinances, and assist persons in need. You will be required to complete various reports and forms, make arrests, collect items of evidence, and testify in court, among other responsibilities. The selected candidate will also have additional duties leading Community Policing efforts, organizing special events, and interacting with the public. 42 Hour workweek, plus additional hours as required.

High School Graduate or equivalent and BLET Certification required. Two years of law enforcement experience preferred, along with public speaking skills, and computer experience. Current certification in Community Oriented Policing, or the ability to obtain within six months. Must be 21 years of age. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Background Check and Drug Test required.

Salary: $39,500.00 /year
