Thank you for expressing an interest with the Avon Police Department. The town of Avon is located 12 miles of Hartford in the scenic Farmington Valley. Avon is 22.6 square miles with a residential population of approximately 17, 500. The Avon Police Department is a nationally accredited professional police organization of 35 sworn officers. The Avon Police Department is committed to providing professional and effective community oriented policing.
The Avon Police Department consists of Patrol, Detective, Communications, and Administrative Divisions. Officers have an opportunity to be a part of our regional teams; such as Narcotics, SWAT, Computer Crimes, and Accident Reconstructions Teams. We also have DARE officers, School Safety Program which includes active shooter training, and officers on Truck Squad conducting level one inspections on commercial motor vehicles.
Starting salary with the Avon Police Department is $56,341.00 and up to $73,771 with job related 4 year degree with full medical benefits. Individuals hired will be paid while completing police recruitment training. All uniforms and equipment will be provided by the department.
