The Hudson, New Hampshire Police Department, A Nationally Accredited Agency, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Officer.   The Town offers a competitive salary and benefits package.  The position requires shift work, including nights, weekends and holidays. 

 

GENERAL DUTIES

As a Hudson Police Officer, you will be responsible for the enforcement of criminal laws, motor vehicle laws, and local ordinances. Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Traffic enforcement
  • Accident investigations
  • Criminal investigations
  • Answering calls for service
  • Report writing
  • Arresting suspected criminal violators
  • Other related duties

  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a Certified Police Officer
  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Minimum age: 21 years old at the time of hire.
  • High school graduate or New Hampshire approved GED equivalency certificate.
  • Height/weight must be proportionate.
  • Eyesight must be corrected to 20/20. Normal color vision and depth perception are also required.
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Normal hearing in both ears (corrected or uncorrected).
  • Persons applying shall be of good moral character.
  • Applicants shall not have a criminal record or serious motor vehicle record.
  • Applicants shall meet all qualifying standards as set forth by the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council
  • Applicants must not have any offensive or inappropriate tattoos, scarifications, or brands visible while he/she is wearing short sleeve police uniform shirts. The Chief of Police will have final determination of all tattoos. Hand, face and neck tattoos are prohibited with the exception of wedding ring tattoos. (please see our policy link above)

ABOUT HUDSON POLICE

Hudson is a growing Town, with an estimated population of 25,000 residents. Hudson is located in the state’s most populous county on the Massachusetts border. The Town of Hudson hosts numerous high tech companies and small businesses, as well as provides a pleasant home for many people who commute to jobs in the Boston area. It is located on the east bank of the Merrimack River. The Town’s southern border is the Massachusetts State line (Tyngsboro, Massachusetts). It is bordered in the north by Londonderry and Litchfield; on the east by Pelham and Windham; and on the west by the City of Nashua, New Hampshire. The primary artery leading to and from Hudson is Route 3. New Hampshire State Routes 3A, 102 and 111 also run through the town.

In 2003, the Hudson Police Department was recognized for its professional excellence and awarded National Accreditation, through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. In December of 2021, the Hudson Police Department participated in its seventh re-accreditation process. As a result of the process, the department was awarded with Advanced Law Enforcement Gold Accreditation status at the CALEA Conference held in Florida in March 2022. Hudson is one of twelve law enforcement agencies in the State that holds this prestigious status of CALEA Accreditation.

The Hudson Police Department is a progressive law enforcement agency committed to protecting and serving the citizens of Hudson, New Hampshire. There are currently 51 sworn officers on the force, making the department one of the largest in the State of New Hampshire.
